Lasers in Medical

Over the past few years, the medical industry has seen an explosion in use of lasers for things like cosmetic surgery and vision correction.

Behind the scenes, American Laser Enterprises has partnered with the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to furnish a laser system to further research into improving hip replacement technology.

The fiber laser cladding system allows high quality, inexpensive hip blanks to be manufactured into unique, replacement sockets in the surgical unit, for the intended recipient.

Project Example

In the computer model below, the system executes a program designed to manufacture a blank into a specific, one-off hip joint. As the technology expands and progresses, this could not only reduce recovery time, but also cut costs from several aspects of this and similar procedures.
