The patented LPC Sensor System is intended for process control during laser beam paint ablation. The sensor system integrates with the scanning head and laser source to provide closed loop control of laser energy to the process. The LPC can be integrated with any industrial Fiber, Nd:YAG, Diode and CO2 laser beam source.

The ablation process is monitored by a sensor(s) (one or multiple) sensitive to different process generated wavelengths. The microprocessor based controller measures the sensor(s) response and adjusts the laser power to match the ablation requirements for the coating under process. This closed loop control activity provides maximum surface ablation while maintaining minimum to zero substrate damage or distortion.
